What is Editing & Proofreading?

Editing & Proofreading is the process of reading a text to identify errors, inconsistencies, incorrect grammar, punctuation and inappropriate style. In the case of a translation, conformity with the source text is checked and appropriate changes and corrections to the text are made.

In general, the number of revisions is proportional to the demands on the text quality: a translation intended for publication may be revised by one or two third parties (e.g. the author, a subject expert, a second translator, an editor), whereas an internal memo may not require any revision.

Proofreading after Translation

Once the translation has been completed, you have the option to send the translated text to a proofreader. The documents will then be checked by another native translator for accuracy, syntax and consistency. Conformity with the source text will be verified. This ensures that the translation is accurate from linguistic, technical and cultural viewpoints in order to create the required image.

Basic Proofreading

We proofread texts in English and in other languages that have not been translated but need to be checked for typographical errors, design and formatting inconsistencies, inaccurate headers and page numbering, inappropriate page breaks, and inaccurate cross-references.

Premium Proofreading

A higher level of proofreading includes checking for style, logic, syntax and consistency within the entire document. At your request, we will clarify meaning, eliminate jargon and introduce accuracy. We can also rewrite text if required.
